Real Life Story: Life Photographer | Lance & Schelise

Here is the deal. I want to be a part of your family! Be like a fly on the wall who is there to document every memory as your story unfolds.

Lance & Schelise are one of my favorite families. And I definitely feel like I am a part of their family. Here is our story:

March 2018 - I met this gorgeous couple. They had just recently got engaged and we had one of my most favorite engagement sessions to date. We shot at a little secret place called Elk Rock Island. Right on the Willamette River. I found this location by literally Google Earth-ing it!!! No joke. It is absolutely spectacular. Green mossy rocks, glassy smooth river water, and gorgeous PNW colors tones. No one can deny that Lance & Schelise are extremely photogenic— they are such naturals in front of the camera. It made my job very easy to be able to capture them on camera. This shoot also jump started my continued love for the more natural, movement-based photos (a lot of what you see in my work now).

April 2018 - They got married!!! I was so honored to have the opportunity to photograph their wedding. The wedding took place at Jantzen Beach, OR. Right on a dock off of the Red Lion Hotel, facing the Columbia River. Remember, we live in the Pacific Northwest and you can never know what to expect with the weather. I remember like it was just yesterday, in the distance we saw a very, very dark rain cloud coming our way. All of us were speaking into existence “we will not get rained on. There will be a rainbow” — or something to that extent. Simply wishing away the rain clouds. AND IT WORKED! During the ceremony, on the water, there was the perfect amount of mist that did not disrupt hair or makeup but gave the photos a romantic, magical feel. And then…. there was a rainbow! The most brilliant, colorful, sharp rainbow ever. The best part was… about 3 minutes after we finished all the photos and got inside, it started to downpour. That day was filled with so much magic, blessings, and love.

September 2018 - Newlywed couples photos at the pumpkin patch! By now we all know each other well and it is just a continuation of photographing their love and absolute adorable-ness.

Spring 2019 - Baby on the way!!! You guys, we had the COOLEST maternity session at Latourell Falls in the Columbia Gorge. Schelise was a glowing goddess and that combined with the majestic waterfall was breathtaking. When Lance & Schelise told me they were pregnant, I got just as excited as if she were my own sister. Their family is growing and I cannot even begin to describe to you how happy it makes me feel to continue alongside someone’s as their story gets written. Summer 2019 - A sweet, precious, beautiful baby girl is born.

Fall 2019 - First ever family of 3 photography session! And when I got to meet baby girl for the first time. My heart swelled up so much from knowing how far this couple has come, and what amazing parents they will be (and are) to their daughter. View full blog post from the family session here.

Christmas 2020 - Extended family photos! Now what was cool about this shoot was that I have already met everyone once before at the wedding. So it truly felt like a little family reunion getting to see everyone again.

That is the story in a nutshell! The story that Lance & Schelise have so warmly and openly welcomed me into. It has been such a fun experience and I am looking forward to seeing how this story continues!
